About UniSteps

Practical training, taught for every kind of learner.

A vocational college founded in 2019 to give capable people a route into skilled work — whatever way they learn best.

Our story

Founded by a teacher, for learners who need a different route.

UniSteps began with a teacher. Malak Shaaban started her career teaching learners with learning difficulties, using adapted teaching strategies that helped them succeed where standard lessons had not.

She saw at first hand how often capable people were let down by institutions built for a single way of learning. In 2019 she founded UniSteps College for Vocational Training to offer something different: practical, career-focused courses taught so that every learner can keep up.

Today the college serves mainly the Arabic-speaking community in northern Israel, with courses in complementary therapies, beauty, languages and personal development, taught in the classroom and live over Zoom.

Vision and mission

Skills people can use, on paths that fit them.

Our vision

A college where people build advanced, practical skills on learning paths shaped around them — using technology where it helps learning, and staying close to the fields our graduates want to work in.

Our mission

To offer clear, practice-led vocational courses in Arabic, Hebrew and English, taught in a way that meets each learner where they are, so they leave able to do the work.

What we hold to

Practice first
Skills are learned by doing, with feedback, from the first session.
Every learner
Teaching adapts to the person, not the other way round.
Plain facts
We publish hours, sessions and requirements — and only claims we can show.
Close to our community
Courses, schedules and support designed around the lives of our learners.

Educational philosophy

We start from the learner, not from the syllabus.

Our philosophy comes from adapted teaching: the belief that most people can master a skill when it is taught in a way that suits them.

  1. 01Meet learners where they are

Begin with what each person already knows

Instructors check understanding early and adjust pace and explanations to the group in front of them.

  2. 02Learning by doing

    Practise early, practise often

Demonstration, guided practice and feedback make up most of the time in practical courses.

  3. 03Adapted strategies

More than one way to explain

Visual, verbal and hands-on explanations, so that people who learn differently are not left behind.

  4. 04Clarity

    Know what is expected

Each course states its goals, its schedule and what completing it requires.

Methodology

How a course is designed and delivered.

Courses are planned in teaching hours and sessions, delivered to a cohort, and completed against clear requirements.

Cohorts and sessions
Each course runs in cohorts with set start and end dates and a published session schedule.
In person, online or hybrid
Each cohort states its format: in the classroom, live on Zoom, or a published mix of both.
Supervised practice
Practical courses dedicate most of each session to practice under the instructor’s supervision.
Completion requirements
Where a course awards a certificate, the requirements — such as attendance — are set for that course and stated in advance.
Support
Admissions advisors help before you enrol; instructors and staff are available to the group throughout the course.
